I was like that too. When I had a little sight I could read a lot of things.
Then I got reading glasses and could read most things and I was always
reading. Then I lost that sight so when I got my first optacon I was always
reading
again. I don't use my optacon as much now but I do use it to read my mail and
anything smaller and things a scanner won't read.

When I was just a very little girl I was always picking up things like
wrapped straws and wrapped Tootsie Rolls and pops and asking my mother,
"What does this say?"
Oh, yes, I indulged my print-reading desires big time when I first got my
Optacon. <smile> I read everything I could get my hans on. I remember
picking up a packet of sugar which I had brought home from a restaurant,
maybe even Stickney's, and reading it just because I wanted to know what a
packet of sugar said.

I too had a lot of fun reading record labels.
Gail
Linda and list,
Reading record labels and LP covers is really lots of fun, although if you
try to read the ones that open up like books, it's challenging because
you've got two 12-inch surfaces to read across with about four columns per
LP cover; talk about challenging!
CD inserts can be a challenge too; some CD's that are packed in
booklet-style containers are great if the print in the booklet is good
enough. CD's are great but I get nervous about scratching the surface of the
disk with the optacon lens, but it works sometimes if the colors have enough
contrast. Somehow, though, it's just not as much fun as reading all those
lP's. What a treat to find out what those songs were really called, and who
wrote them!
