Re EGNM_TWR simultaneously flying on Vatsim. I can confirm this: when first contacting him, his message - as well as the usual info - included the words "Text only - currently flying on Vatsim". So I checked the Vatsim traffic on ServInfo and, sure enough, the same Daniel Lipscombe was en route Palma to Manchester as EZY28x (can't recall the last character of his callsign). My contact with him was fairly brief, but he excused himself for five minutes when I was on the ground at EGNM and compiling my flight plan for EGNS. Not sure to what extent this may have compromised traffic - which was very light, and largely monopolised by a Typhoon doing circuits (?? a pal of TWR??) and calling Mayday in the process. But it doesn't give a good impression of IVAO ATC when the controller pops up a message telling traffic that he's simultaneously flying on Vatsim.

More of a problem for me was the appalling quality of his voice setup.

I presume an SRA is taught as part of the C2 exam so I guess you have to be
rated APP to conduct one.

As to your Leeds TWR controller flying on VATSIM as well as controlling on
IVAO it depends on circumstances. How do you know he was flying on VATSIM?
Did he ignore his IVAO duties and compromise traffic? If the latter is true
you should have followed the rules and called in a supervisor and then
explained the situation to him - he can then reprimand or kick the user as
he sees fit.

You can find a list of supervisors online from the IVAO HQ, Services page.
Alternatively you could have sent a WALLOP message on text.

Yes he specifically asked for an SRA app and whether I was qualified to carry out the procedure, from your earlier email, I did not realize how involved it was.
I will print it out.

Ps
Tonight whilst on Leeds app, discovered that my Tower controller was also flying on Vatsim, would explain why DFT501 left the circuit for EGGP rather peeved. Not sure whether I should report it and to whom. I did have a text from IVAO-AEI querying why 501 was now on my frq instead of TWR as his FP was for circuits EGNM, shows you do not know who is watching. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fossil" <fossil@xxxxxxx>

I don't understand what you are saying.

If the pilot requested an SRA then he is asking for a radar talkdown. That
means he has no navaids available to fly the approach himself and it is up
to you to get him on the ground.

Are you sure it was an SRA he requested?

I gathered he wanted to practise doing the approach whilst I gave him radar
cover and help. Seemed to be a bit peeved that I did not answer in the
affirmative, never having to do this procedure before. Appart from missed
approaches.

In fact, this was just after my tower controller disappeared without
warning, (a 2 hour newbie, he appeared also without contacting me, very
rude).

I doubt I will see the pilot again, and if it was me, I would have done an
inital practise offline before bugging a controller.
