I don't understand what you are saying.

If the pilot requested an SRA then he is asking for a radar talkdown. That
means he has no navaids available to fly the approach himself and it is up
to you to get him on the ground.

Are you sure it was an SRA he requested?

I gathered he wanted to practise doing the approach whilst I gave him radar 
cover and help. Seemed to be a bit peeved that I did not answer in the 
affirmative, never having to do this procedure before. Appart from missed 
approaches.

In fact, this was just after my tower controller disappeared without 
warning, (a 2 hour newbie, he appeared also without contacting me, very 
rude).

I doubt I will see the pilot again, and if it was me, I would have done an 
inital practise offline before bugging a controller.
