I am curious. What DOS does it ship with? MS-DOS or FreeDOS? From the
offerings I have seen around, there are laptops which ship with
FreeDOS.
FreeDOS is a FOSS software available under GPL.
Here's the description of the project as on sf.net
"FreeDOS is a free DOS-compatible operating system for IBM-PC
compatible systems. FreeDOS is made of up many different, separate
programs that act as packages to the overall FreeDOS Project. FreeDOS
is distributed under the GNU GPL."
If so, should one be against buying a machine preloaded with FreeDOS subject to:
1) All of the hardware works with recent GNU/Linux distributions,
either out of the box or with some minor tweaks
2) Hardware warranty is not voided on installing GNU/Linux(which I
highly doubt would be a problem with a machine which has FreeDOS
preinstalled).
Looking forward to hearing from people who have bought laptops with
DOS preinstalled.
