Yes. Its a step in the right direction. But I feel
there's still a long way to go before Fedora grows
up to be aesthetically pleasing desktop. I've been
more impressed with SuSE Personal Desktop, Mandriva,
SimplyMEPIS, Xandros and Ubuntu for desktop usage.
I've found it easier to introduce a newbie desktop
user onto any of the above mentioned distros than FC.
I've also found Slackware to be the best bet for
lean servers (old 486/Pentium machines with 32 MB RAM configured as a
firewall/router). Fedora must improve
on this front too (lean resource/disk-space
requirements for minimal installation servers). There
are these old machines still lurking around with
520 MB hard disks and FC4 simply wont install on them
while Slackware 10.1 and Debian Sarge does so, without
problems.
