Been there, done that - the gains are only marginal as far as the
performance of the GNOME apps  go.  GNOME apps on Ubuntu are on an
average a lot snappier - mind you, I don't have any hard numbers;

Unfortunately what we really need is hard numbers. Perception wouldnt 
fix performance issues if any.

Not trying to start anything, btw. Thanks for all your Fedora and
community work.
