Been there, done that - the gains are only marginal as far as the
performance of the GNOME apps go. GNOME apps on Ubuntu are on an
average a lot snappier - mind you, I don't have any hard numbers; it
is very clear that packaging of GNOME apps is done with lot of care by
the Ubuntu folks. Working with Ubuntu restored my confidence in
GNOME.
Not trying to start anything, btw. Thanks for all your Fedora and
community work.
