I might be deviating a bit but I guess it's still within the scope of
this thread..Does anyone know of any good links to show how effective
the P4/AMD64 specific optimizations (tuning, rather...they retain
compatibility) that distros like Fedora, Mandrake boast of, are. Of
late, I've been getting sceptical of these...that too, after recently
'converting' to Debian from Fedora (for the better, I still
believe)...people over here who use gentoo...is it really worthwhile
to go for a fully compiled setup at the cost of easy package
upgradation (by easy, I mean the time involved, I know it just takes
an emerge sync on gentoo)
it moves on...
