MessageHi Madeleine, Kim and all, Kim, that's a great point about those slow loading pages, and thank you for reminding me, as that's something I wanted to mention as well. If I go to the "Chec Out" page, for instance, it seems to take forever to load. Same with "Books in Process" and several others in the "Volunteer" section. For the most part, this problem seems almost exclusive to Bookshare site pages, and very consistent, at least in my personal experience. So I'm wondering if it's on Bookshare's servers end, rather than my ISP. Since Kim mentioned that she's having a similar experience, perhaps the former? Since we're mentioning site revisions, I just wanted to second Kim's comment on the loading issue. *smile* Thanks so much. the other Kim, in NC <grin> From: Madeleine Linares Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2012 7:16 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Redoing the Bookshare Website Hi Kim, Thanks so much for your comments! I know about the volunteer newsletter problem and I want to fix this too. We are actually talking about starting the newsletter up again. Regardless, that old link shouldn't be there. I'm not sure about the slow loading times, but I will see what I can find out about what is being done to fix this. It's really frustrating, I agree! Hopefully we'll be able to straighten out these issues! The volunteer newsletter is the one dated in January when the site went live and it hasn't been changed; 2. I don't know if the engineering geniuses have solved the problem of loading pages for the checkout queue. They take a long time to load and if I wished to go to another page for checking out a book to proofread, the computer didn't seem to be able to handle it very well; 3. If I release or reject a book, I'd feel better about my decision if there was a means for me to explain my decision for the folks in charge of approving books. 4. I haven't responded to any blogs on the Bookshare site because I haven't figured out how to do it. Regards, Kim Friedman.
