My daughter, Katie, texted me late this morning, from the WKU campus in Bowling
Green, to say that there were a bunch of Waxwings there feasting on holly
berries. She'd been hearing them on campus recently, but today she finally
spotted them. Even though it has been two months since we've seen them here at
Schochoh, I guess they're not as scarce in Kentucky as last winter...but still
worth a note.
I should mention that Waxwings are a special bird for Katie (and me😊) that she
readily identifies by sound. She learned their whining calls while watching
them dart out over the stream to snatch mayfly spinners, while fly fishing with
me, some years ago.
