Our smattering of wild cherry trees have been drawing birds to ripening fruit
for several weeks now. I’d been hoping that the Waxwings would be among the
hoard and had watched closely for them. I missed them, and continued to miss
them, to the point that I’d pretty much given up...then at least 5 of them
appeared this evening. I found them quietly feeding in the one tree that still
has plenty of cherries, probably because the Mockingbirds have been keeping
less stealthy competition away from it.
