Hi Jackie,

Just to explain, that an unattended install of Windows is scripted.
Therefore, you don't need to remember all the steps.  A truly unattended
install, and I have done it myself, means that you can run setup with some
parameters, including a script, and it will do the whole thing for you,
right up to the activation and take a quick tour process. Believe me I have
done it, but I am not so stupid as to recommend that everyone does it.

Well Andy, I'm going to be controversial here and say that those who say it
can be done are being ever so slightly economical with the truth.  If you
install Windows from scratch, as in a complete full copy, you have to know
what it's asking you, and unless you've got a photographic memory and can
recall every step without a sighted person being within reach of the screen,
I don't think you can do it.

If you have recovery disks that you tend to get with a machine in a High
Street store, it generally wants to know things like language, and your name etc. There aren't so many steps to go through with a recovery as there are
with a full installation of the actual Operating System from scratch.
Personally, because I'm cautious, I wouldn't do it without sighted
assistance, just in case I was asked an unexpected question and pressed the
wrong option to accept.  I just wouldn't do it.

If it has been done with no sighted assistance by a totally blind person
from scratch, then well done.

Clearly it does sound as if some blind people can do an installation of an
operating system without sighted help; given that there is no JFW
assistance
for this, then it must be a question of deliberate steps; isn't that
something we all could learn if somebody detailed them for us? What actual
expertise is required to reinstall that can be done without speech, and
how
is it possible to know what to do and when if there is no speech? -
