Good idea George.
Surely this is an issue which the RNIB could take up on behalf of their members?
George.

Yep, I got one today and was just sorting it out to sendnoI saw your message.
I'm not too pleased either because it seems there's justway for us to see that programme now. As it was on at a special time, it's probably not going to be repeated and, even if it is, we won't necessarily have anyone to readforifus at that time.
What does anyone think about this idea about the DVD's? That's not going to solve our problem either is it, eventranslationwe did find a reasonably accessible DVD player!
Anyway, here's the response I received.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'Children of Beslan'.
I note that you were unhappy there was no form ofof the children's speech other than a written wording onscreen, thus preventing those who suffer from blindnessorother disabilities to follow what was being said.
Please be assured that your comments on this matter, along
with your concern that you did not receive a response as stated when you initially phoned BBC Information, will be
fully registered and made available to programme makersandindeed senior management within the BBC. Feedback of this nature helps us when making decisions about future BBC programmes and services and your views will most certainly
programmeplay a part in this process.
In relation to your other requests, transcripts of the programme cannot be provided and as copies of thisare not commercially available, for copyright andcontractualreasons we are unable to supply a one-off copy. Hmm, it seems BBC Information have no real influence here.
This is my response that I got today. It looks very much like a form letter with a bit thrown into it.
"Dear Mr Toner,
Thank you for contacting BBC Information regarding your concerns about Children of Beslan which was broadcast onTWO on 30 August 2005. I was sorry to learn of your disappointment in not being able to watch the programme.to
I understand you received a copy of my correspondence sentanother individual regarding this matter. I note you concerns and I have raised this matter with Fiona Stourton
again. However, she has nothing further to add to the response you have already received.from the BBC
