The iPhone is easy to use if you can't see the screen. When VoiceOver is on and
you touch the screen, VoiceOver announces what link or shortcut your finger is
on but doesn't open it - which it would if you did not have VoiceOver on.. To
do that, you tap the screen twice quickly.

How usable and good is the IPhone for blind people? Our computer support guy in
the disability unit wants to know how can a blind person use it because its
touch screen?
I always sort of regret that I could never really experience the Mac. I read
the articles in the american blind magazines about how rubbish vo was, but
thought they were doing it out of the interests of the people who make screen
readers. When I was looking for a laptop for uni my brother and I went to an
apple shop because I wanted to see it. I was really upset though because the
salespeople weren't really bothered to help, they didn't even know what vo was,
let alone how to put vo on for me to have a look and when we eventually got it
on my brother and I basically didn't really know how to make it work. Plus I'd
heard that there wasn't a good word processor that worked with vo, just the
basic Apple one which apparrently doesn't let you do much to the documents to
make them presentable enough.
