It was a chorus of birds this morning that I had to get out and see - in my own backyard! I patiently waited and phished in the manner that I do and brought out a lot of birds! about 25 Palm Warblers singing and flying back and forth under the willow trees. lots, I mean lots of Yellow Rumps and I saw it! My climbing Black and White Warbler. I then saw flying pretty low, a Red Tailed Hawk and then another one soared near it above the willow trees. We have them here now because I'm thinking it's because the DNR cut a lot of trees down at the Mitchell Park (Sharon Wilson Center area) where there were about 5 Red Tailed nests. Then I decided to take advantage of the deer path into the woods where I found a perfectly large enough tree log that fell to sit upon. Here I sat and quietly observed what was going on in the deeper thicker of the woods, and hoping I wasn't going to leave the woods with ticks all over me, it was in here that I had the most beautiful observation of a singing bird, Teacher Teacher, an Oven Bird! It actually jumped just a little ways up the tree and came back down just enough for me to get an excellent look at him, his speckled chest and streaked head with the lighter orange in the middle. What a sight! I'm so lucky!! A House wren landed in a tree very close to me and sang and then decided to looked into a hole in the tree when all of a sudden it's mate came and very quickly they flew together, up and down and all around. I looked up trying to see what was singing so loudly and then it stopped and that's when I saw Mrs. Grosbeak taking seeds off a tree. The last and most fun for me was when I heard this garbly goo and such coming from bushes along our tennis court, I knew immediately what it was and started to meow and sure enough there it was the Cat Bird! I can't wait until late this afternoon to see what I have. I'm hoping my Humming bird will show up, because he's already 4 days late! Tweets so Sweet!
