Below is the list from my second Red-shouldered Hawk survey yesterday in the
Chequamegon National Forest west of Mellen in Ashland County. The early
warblers have reached us in numbers with lots of Ovenbirds and Nashvilles
filling the woods now. Also had an especially early Golden-winged Warbler.
Ruffed Grouse numbers are great this year.

Back in Ashland, a Greater White-fronted and Cackling Goose continue to
frequent a lawn on Hwy 13 just north of Hwy 2 in Bayfield County. Here's a

Anyone passing through Ashland should pay close attention to the Long Bridge
area west of the Best Western hotel as there's been plenty of exposed sand and
lots of dynamic bird action here. Still many ducks on Chequamegon Bay as well.
