Spent a couple of hours late AM, early PM driving around with a of lot of other birders looking for the Gyrfalcon. With mixed feelings I got to see my first Gyrfalcon (white phase) being handled by a falconer on Lake Rd. Beautiful bird, circled around and then pounced on a pheasant that he released. (His companion told me he had captured a Gyrfalcon there 10 years ago for falconing.) 1 Snowy Owl (great looks in the top of the fir tree next to the house on W) 2 Rough-legged Hawks 1 Bald Eagle 3 Prairie Chickens (others saw large groups that I missed) 1 Northern Shrike 1 Red-tailed Hawk 50+ Snow Buntings Paul van Ginkel Madison #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
