Right Paul, for your example:  In Excel press ctrl-g; then type into the 
edit field: A2:a7,C5:c10     and your two ranges (two areas) will be 
highlighted (or selected).  (A comma between the two ranges.)

in excel i want to select a range of cells, say from a2 to a7 and i also 
want to select the range c5 to c10 , in other words without doing anything 
to the b column.
any help on this action?
