$1750 NZD =3D 630 pounds. In the US, that printer is under $600. New =
Zealand
is an expensive place to buy anything. For reasons, I suppose you can =
start
with the 12 1/2 percent tax (GST) on any goods and services that are =
sold
(translation: everything). $200 of that price is GST. If you want to =
really
cringe, I pay 50 cents per minute to talk on a cell phone (to anywhere =
in
the country) or on a land line to anywhere other than 'local'. I could =
go on
and on. The cost of living here will eventually drive me back to the =
U.S.
The odd part is that most kiwis don't seem to know that it's expensive =
here.
