[TechAssist] Re: troubleshooting HDMI input problems with no HDMI equipped sig-gens?

Well for example the tech I know is going out on a service call to find
out why this set doesn't work on HDMI. Maybe the customer isn't doing
something right. Maybe it's a defective cable box, accessory (DVD,sat
box, etc) or a bad cable. Could be a interface module in the set. He
really doesn't need to perform alignments with patterns thru this port,
but must find out if the set recieves a signal thru it from a known good
source, and trace back from that. A stupid little thing like our
expensive generators lacking this port causes problems. I think that
$200.00 LG DVD player with a simple test disc in it would fill the
bill.I wonder if this LG also has a DVI for the sets with this option.
Your suggestion holds merit in these cases. use it straight DVI with the
DVI equipped sets, and the HDMI cable with those so equiped.probably
either the HDMI would work, or not regardless of audio. This would as you
say cover both cases.
or i could just go be a Walmart greeter, my real wish. Screw this pressure.
Waa-Waa customers just have to have cutting edge or they just die.
;-)
