I have one of those boards in now from a service call, I decide to fix the
board by cleaning out the burned hole under the 27K resistor and mounting
the resistor elsewhere, sending the board back with a new HV splitter. I
hope it works out ok. Two reasons I did it this way, 1 tips about the burned
resistor being the only problem along with the splitter, and 2 I got stung
once when PartsFinder said a board was "eligible for warranty replacement"
when it was not! Is there a question here? Not really, just adding to the
confusion.

Yeah. My original post was on 8/2 for this one, I should have pasted it, the
board was burned pretty bad, and the set is under warranty, so I wasn't
about to try and fix it. Finally there is a TCE set that it is eligible for
warranty replacement.
