Hello gang,

Just got back in from doing an on site survey for this one.
Customer said the last shop that visited said that "Toshiba
no longer makes parts for this model" I am puzzled as
the DOM for the unit is April 2000. Is Toshiba serious??

Anyway, the customer just needs to submit an affidavit
to the insurance company. They initially called because
the original shop never came back. Regarding troubleshooting,
I did not find any fuses blown on the primary (PART NO: PB8757C)
or secondary power (PB8760A) boards.

Powered up the set, relay clicks once and red power LED
comes on, there is no raster, or audio. No visibly burnt components,
also the H.O.T (Q404) is good.

Anyone have access to a service manual for this model?

TOSHIBA TV - MDL: TZ55V61 DEAD AFTER STORM

Thanks,

You're kidding! I didn't think people would sink so low so as to put
dead sets aside and then wait for a lightning storm. Don't they know
that lightning damage is usually much more severe than normal dead? Do
they get mad when you tell them it wasn't lightning?

You can't estimate any TV over the phone. I have had lightning damaged
sets that only had the line fuse open. It all depends on how bad it was hit.
I have had customers set TVs ,VCR, etc. aside and wait for a lightning
storm and bring them in for a free lightning repair from their insurance
Co..
It does not work, and I can tell if lightning has really hit most times.
When you have 1/8 inch on dust on all the inputs to the TV its a red alert
that
something is fishy

carriers have a $250 deductible so customer out of pocket is $250 and ins.

either but they may say go ahead and repair it then you can only exceed
your estimate
by 10% so be careful to get "whole " picture
