You're kidding! I didn't think people would sink so low so as to put
dead sets aside and then wait for a lightning storm. Don't they know
that lightning damage is usually much more severe than normal dead? Do
they get mad when you tell them it wasn't lightning?

You can't estimate any TV over the phone. I have had lightning damaged
sets
that only had the line fuse open. It all depends on how bad it was hit.
I
have had customers set TVs ,VCR, etc. aside and wait for a lightning
storm
and bring them in for a free lightning repair from their insurance Co..
It
does not work, and I can tell if lightning has really hit most times.
When
you have 1/8 inch on dust on all the inputs to the TV its a red alert
that
something is fishy
