Probably the capstan motor. The driver ICs are so small that they overheat
and burn out if anything goes wrong. Could just be the motor itself but for
me it was usually collateral to something else, like defective mode switch.

Subject: [TechAssist] Sylvania tv/vcr model 6319cc/no capstan rotation

> Hello,
> This tv/vcr combo will load the tape, head spins, tv comes on ,
but no capstan rotation, so when sys con see's this it retracts the tape and
turns the tv off. As the tape is retracting the capstan motor is not
turning. Does anybody have a print on this unit or has anybody seen this
problem before? Year 2002, UL# 31YA, FUNIA picture tube.
