I have been considering purchasing an ATSC tuner card for a computer. Thirty min. of HD takes about 4Gb, which would fill a DVD. Something is going to change soon when people realize they can not record HD. As for an HDTV gen, I am late gettin in on this one, though I have posted this before. I have the Quantum Data 608 generator. This is very similar to the Sencore, in fact Quantum Data makes the units for Sencore. The difference is in the test patterns. Quantum Data is a company I will never buy from again. A couple of years ago Thomson had an agreement with Quantum, ASCs could purchase a 600 series generator and a CS1 chromaticity head and a very good discount, much less than either one from Sencore, and I bit. The catch now is that NO support is available, none of the distributors will sell any accessories (imagine that!) to you unless you bought it from them, and the factory will not sell accessories to you. Well, all I wanted was the cable from the SVGA connection to the component video. As it turns out the standard cable available with the five BNC connectors to the SVGA plug is just fine. I have not had any problems with the equipment, in fact I think they are very good--but no support...$$..??
