I now give a meet or beat estimate on the phone to try and pull a few easy repairs in. Few people are willing to make a repair on sets 25 inch or under. I am seeing very few combo's 19 inch and smaller. Even the 27's are way down. My last year gross thru April was just under $5000. This year it is less than $2000. I closed my retail and repair shop in '98 in Portland, Maine, our largest city, and semi-retired now working at home in a small town of about <10,000 including outlying areas. The town dump now imposes a $15.00 disposal fee on 25's and smaller and $30.00 for larger sets. TV's are starting to show up on the roadside. I used to get a lot of 19 inch televisions in for repair monthly. Now I rarely get one a month. Still get 25 inch and up but anything smaller seems to be a thing of the past in this area. I guess I will have to lift weights and get in shape for the bigger units and stay where the money is for now.
