Just another thought on this - (you may have guessed that Puffin specification and installation matters are a current issue here in Sheffield) - Does anyone have any current pedestrian) accident information in relation the conversion of Pelican into Puffins crossings? If not, does this require some investigations being conducted? This old chestnut has cropped up again. East Sussex CC have recently converted a pelican crossing to a puffin. So "what's new" I hear you say. This time its outside a secondary school with 1200 pupils. The headmaster is none to pleased because at 3 o'clock hundreds of kids attempt to use the crossing and they cannot see the nearside indicator. We have installed a second unit above the original, but he's still not happy. Whilst I tend to agree with his point of view I am not sure what else we can do. Any ideas would be welcome. My question is: Has anybody had a similar experience, particularly outside a school. If so, what else can we do the help? Has anybody used far side indicators on a puffin and do you require GOSE authorisation? Your comments would be very much appreciated.
