The problem with tactile indicators is that they aren't the device of choice for blind users and others. Giving them a lower grade of service for part of the day is arguably discriminatory. Having the volume change with background noise as with Bleep& Sweep would be far better, though there are problem sites, where the topography focuses the sound on some poor resident's bedroom. (There is one like that in Coventry on the Walsgrave Rd.) The double fitting also adds to costs, with little overall benefit.
