I thought that, but it was the information given somewhere along the line.

Hi Jackie,

4 is incorrect. You don't need any version of Talks to work with KNFB, because
it is self-voicing. It is not a requirement therefore, to have Premium. It
will work well enough with Standard.

All the best

Steve

Hi Paul

Here goes, I'll do my best.

1. You should be able to upgrade from your 6600 to the N82 if that's the
handset you have your heart set on, I guess, subject to the usual terms and
conditions of your contract.

2. I don't know the answer to this one as it again depends on the terms and
conditions of your contract. I've heard many of them will entice you to take
out a handset for nothing, except you aren't getting it for nothing when you
add the value to the payments you are required to pay back monthly to the
company.

3. The K-NFB Reader software on its own costs £695, and we can install this
for you.

4. Vodafone will only install Talks Standard onto any phone, to my knowledge.
I've always been told that you require Talks Premium to work in conjunction
with the K-NFB Reader software, but I could have this clarified for you.

5. It is possible to copy all your contacts from the phone onto your Sim card.
You mark them all by going into the Options menu, then go to the Sim card and
copy them. I'm not a fan of this method though because I always find the info
you copy to the Sim card is clipped or truncated. I prefer, if possible, to
copy from one phone to another directly using the Transfer Data or Switch tools.

I hope this gives you some clarification though.

Subject: [talks-uk] buying a new phone

Hi all,

For some time now, I have been thinnking of changing my phone as my Nokia 6600
is nearly four years old and has one or two strange characteristics.

The other night, I saw an N82 which a blind Friend has and having seen it, I
feel this is the one I would like to go for.

I have several questions listed below and would appreciate it if anyone can
anser them for me please.

1. presumably I can exchange my current phone for a new one, whetehr that
be N82 or other model. I am on a contract at present and wish to continue with
one.

2. How much does it cost to change to a new phone.

3. The N82 will allow me to install the KNFB software but how much would
it cost to install.

4. Can Vodaphone (my network) put Talx on for me as they did back in 2005
when I purchased my Nokia 6600.

5. How do I copy all my contacts and can I copy them to the sim card or
not. Have heard that it's not possible and so would appreciate help,
particularly on this last point.

Think that covers everything but should I have any more questions, then I will
come back to the list.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Paul.
