Know what you mean Steve but, I stopped thinking about them as being sms for ages now as my phone appears to send text as one big message... And in the main, appears the other end to the recipient as one message. Whether it is broken into separate message on its travels before being reassembled into one at the other I have no clue... And since I have unlimited texts, it is by far the cheapest way of communicating in that particular format. -----Original Message----- From: talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:talks-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Nutt Sent: 18 January 2010 14:55 To: talks-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [talks-uk] Re: Sending large text messages Hi, As a point of interest, and I am not picking on you personally Eleanor, only using your reply to reply in general, but do you know what SMS stands for? SMS is the system whereby text messages are broadcast, and it stands for Short Message Service. My emphasis on the word Short. Are you all after sending novels by text then? If you are going to send a long message, probably better to send it via MMS, you only get charged for one MMS message instead of three or four SMS messages. Now I have 2 e71 phones. On my Vodafone one it does not always work but on my 02 one, where the recipient is also 02, I have absolutely no problem. However, as I have my contract with Vodafone and am on pay as you go with 02, my preference is to use the Vodafone. I must follow this more closely though next time I do it and will feed back to the list.
