Thanks Steve excellent advice and I have to smile as we are all finger tapping those novels. Now I have found the situation where indeed my text message has been long and the phone has automatically selected MMS. This is a brill idea but for one thing, in my particular case, I have unlimited text messages and 10 free MMS per month. If the MMS were free I would certainly always select that option. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi,

As a point of interest, and I am not picking on you personally Eleanor, only
using your reply to reply in general, but do you know what SMS stands for?
SMS is the system whereby text messages are broadcast, and it stands for
Short Message Service. My emphasis on the word Short.

Are you all after sending novels by text then? If you are going to send a
long message, probably better to send it via MMS, you only get charged for
one MMS message instead of three or four SMS messages.

All the best

Steve

That is interesting Saqib because I do exactly what you say sometimes. Now
I have 2 e71 phones. On my Vodafone one it does not always work but on my
02 one, where the recipient is also 02, I have absolutely no problem.
However, as I have my contract with Vodafone and am on pay as you go with
02, my preference is to use the Vodafone. I must follow this more closely
though next time I do it and will feed back to the list.

Yes that's what I was trying to point out. I could transfer a txt document

to my phone and then send it on by text message. I would be charged the
rate of 3 to 4 text messages because of the size of the document. Since
the firmware upgrade from 1.42 to 3.42 this is no longer possible.

I think he is talking about one long message and not a block of messages.

I can send a very long text message on my e71 but not on my N95.

You should only be able to send up to a block of 10 messages at any 1
time.
At least that's all I could ever do.

Hi. I use to be able to send large text messages such as instructions or
football reports to my friends. I can't do this anymore since I had
upgraded
my firmware on the Nokia E71. I get a message asking me to delete some
characters as the message is to big. Is there a setting in which I can
alter
so I can send large text messages as I have unlimited texts so I'm not
restricted to a certain amount of texts per month.
