Now I have found the situation where indeed my text message has been long and the phone has automatically selected MMS. This is a brill idea but for one thing, in my particular case, I have unlimited text messages and 10 free MMS per month. SMS is the system whereby text messages are broadcast, and it stands for Short Message Service. My emphasis on the word Short. Are you all after sending novels by text then? If you are going to send a long message, probably better to send it via MMS, you only get charged for one MMS message instead of three or four SMS messages.
