Hi Steve,

Not sure how aware you are of phone contracts and tariffs, but it is often
the case that packages have a high number of SMS messages included in the
monthly charge, whereas you are charged for MMS. The T-Mobile Flext tariffs
were one of the exceptions, where customers have a quantified budget
allocated to them each month which does include MMS.

So, people will often prefer to send several SMS's worth of messages for
free than one MMs at cost.

Roaming is the exception to this, where for example it is cheaper for me to
send all messages through MMS than via SMS. This is with T-Mobile for both
my business and personal contracts.

Hi,

As a point of interest, and I am not picking on you personally Eleanor, only
using your reply to reply in general, but do you know what SMS stands for?
SMS is the system whereby text messages are broadcast, and it stands for
Short Message Service. My emphasis on the word Short.

Are you all after sending novels by text then? If you are going to send a
long message, probably better to send it via MMS, you only get charged for
one MMS message instead of three or four SMS messages.

All the best

Steve

That is interesting Saqib because I do exactly what you say sometimes. Now
I have 2 e71 phones. On my Vodafone one it does not always work but on my
02 one, where the recipient is also 02, I have absolutely no problem.
However, as I have my contract with Vodafone and am on pay as you go with
02, my preference is to use the Vodafone. I must follow this more closely
though next time I do it and will feed back to the list.

Eleanor
