Oh but if they do let go, often they'll turn and attack that which is
holding those back legs or what ever.
Also, one of the main reasons Pits & other fighters have ears cropped and
tails docked is so the other
dog has nothing to grab. It's horrible -- just within the last 3 weeks
right here in my neighborhood of
big Baton Rouge - TWO PIT BULL ATTACKS - causing both innocent humans to
almost lose their
leg. Now B.R. folks are trying to get tougher with the ordinances here.

I am sure that most people on this list know this, but just in case someone
doesn't it might worth bringing up.
Usually if you can get the dogs hind feet off the ground you can separate
them from what ever they are attacking . They lose the power in their jaw if
their hind feet are not in contact with the ground. Get them by the tail or
better yet by the hind feet . Have separated many a dog fight like that .Of
course if both dogs are fighting it takes two people .

One of our greyhounds (on leash) was killed by an unleashed Akita. The
owner couldn't beat the dog off Naldy with a board, I don't think hairspray
would have stopped this dog.
