My first exposure to raw feeding was almost 30 years ago. There was a couple from Germany who raised Boxers near us. The husband would go to the butcher and bring back steer heads. They had a little wooden and stone stable that had a fireplace in it. They'ld put the steer head in a pot over a fire and cook it all day, then pull off the meat ( and I don't know what else, and don't want to think about it) and feed it to the dogs with stale bread they got from the bakery. There used to be these great big steer skulls all over the place that they gave the dogs to chew on. Thier Boxers were bigger than the ones we see today, but coats were shiny and the dogs were well muscled. They lived lilke that for years and years and then one day the place went up for sale and we had heard the husband had died. They had a kennel name, but I can't think what it was...old age catching up on me I guess!
