Absolutely, Mike.  I have used this to show a newby what is
meant      by "....the fewest number of steps ......"  Simply count the number
of times       the dog's left front foot contacts the ground between two ring
posts.                              Carolyn

If you want to be truly accurate on the fewest steps across a measured
distance you could always do the following.

Measure your own stride, and walk off a section of the ring between two
points of reference to gauge the distance and count the strokes each dog
takes to move across it, hopefully on a loose lead. Using this strategy -
speed does not matter - the fewest steps win - always.

The only other variable that comes in to play at this point is the size of
the dog(Length and Height). A larger dog always has the potential to
outstroke a smaller dog if they have equal angulation. I haven't worked out
the math yet, but am guessing that an inch in height could result in 2-4
inches longer in stride

back to sleep
