look through the results of the WGSD Nationals - it will probably surprise
most people. i think both evan ginsburg and karen hynek have judged their
national - talk to them about the dogs. again, interesting.
i will agree with ann on this one - it's a DQ in our standard - let's leave
it that way.

A solid black bitch was bred to a white dog to produce a black&silver
bitch. The black&silver bitch was than bred to a black&tan. This breeding
produced the bitch in the picture -- a white. Fascinating!

When I first started in German Shepherds (a lot of years ago now) I was
always told that white was disqualified because it wasn't really white. You
couldn't breed white to white and get white (which they do now) - that
white was really washed out black and tan - more cream than white. You could
breed sable, black or black and tan and predict what colors you would get -
but not the white ones. Now it appears the people breeding the white ones
are really getting white with black noses and dark eyes.
In doing some rescue - we have "rescued" several white ones and they all
have had great temperments - very sound, smart - with what I would call
traditional shepherd character. Until doing some rescue, I hadn't been around
any white GSD - so just interesting.

e did no such thing! Disqualifications were "invented" by
reed clubs through the years. Max couldn't have cared
ess. He was all about a dog's working ability.
