Yes, there were white champions up until around that time. I am not sure of
the exact year, but, it was in the 60's. I always felt badly for people who
had pointed whites, maybe even major points, who then could never finish their
nice dogs when the GSDCA changed the standard.

As I am sure Helen will either agree or correct me for this, the white color
was included in the breed for showing until 1968.
