While the Victory dinner in Canada is really nice ......it is unfair to compare
it
with our National Victory dinner. At least when we were there the volume of
people at the dinner was not even close to what we deal with at our National.
Personally I don't see how we can ever meet the needs of so many at one sitting
without it costing a fortune and some not getting hot coffee, or buns and
butter,
service, or whatever. It is time consuming to serve that many and it is time
consuming to get through the evening and program with hundreds of hungry,
exhausted people that just want to take care of their dogs, eat, enjoy the
excitement
of their wins, and pick up their awards, hear the results of the voting and make
their flight the next morning. No one caterer nor buffet, nor nice dining
facility
can
please that many year after year under these circumstances. It is not going to
happen often and I think we need to quit expecting it.
Many go elsewhere for lack of time and with dogs to care for and early flights
or long
drives. Many are excited and happy and buy tickets at the last minute.
Possibly we need to consider something quicker and simpler, much like Lew
mentioned.
Or possibly just some great finger foods or simple food right at the
Arena.........heck
we could even have those wonderful SELECT dogs interact right with the crowd
and
not have to be rushed back to a Hotel and crate.......that would be MY idea of
a good
Victory Dinner!!!!!!!!! Judges would have the dogs right there as they talk
about
them.
