We feel the same, if we are going to be there, we are going to eat
anyway...not going to charge a client for eating, for Pete's sake,
lol.

Let me pose it this way, Why should my priority clients pay for me to come to
the show and show your dog? They are the ones who have a dog in my kennel, they
pay a share of the expenses and its only fair that each client pulls his/her
own weight. The multi-millionaire deserves the same courtesy as the working
guy. Mind you... Im not eating steak and lobster, but when Im runing from ring
to ring and my help is back at the setup getting 2-3 dogs ready-- I honestly
dont think its too much to ask a client to pay for a 5 buck dog show hambuger
x 2 (gotta include the paid help) divided by 4=2.50 per person. Dinner may be
a little more.. lets say I ate a 15$ dinner and the assistant did too... thats
30 total.. thats 7.50 per person.. (if 4 people are charged)... all in all,
you are only paying 10$ extra for food.

Take gas for example.. it cost about 80$ to fill the truck... do this about 3
times to get from the show...240$= 60$ per person.. so realistically.. a 75$
and 70$ expenses for the whole trip... not a bad deal in my opinion..

Group I -IV bonus, in my opinion and standard business practices of an all
breed professional handler are considered "above and beyond"... So thus, the
group wins and placements are bonus. Now, you are correct, I do not charge a
best of breed bonus, they are what I am being hired for. And Usually--- I wont
charge a "do up" fee for the group. This is that sketchy area that is best
resovled on an individual basis.. I carry Kerry Blues, Portuguese water dogs,
poodles, Wheatens , Westies, Lakies.. etc.. so when you are continually doing
up the dog..scissoring, Respraying, re chalking, and so on... You are right..
its probably fair to charge up a do up fee for my time. A german shepherd, at
the group level might require re fluffing.. a far cry from the 2 hours needed
to respray and band up a standard poodle... :-) *why I do it on an indivual
basis***

Whatever the case, its best to know beforehand and make sure there is a clear
understanding of whats about the transpire between handler and client to
prevent misunderstandings.. and never be afraid to have em, "put it in writing"
