And Please don't forget about Lyme Disease, (I am in MA) I never knew it could strike young pups. I had a 4 month old Golden pup in one of my puppy classes and He was being treated for Lyme I never realized that a puppy this young could already have symptoms of Lyme He was diagnosed at about 31/2 months old . So when I had a 4 month old GSD pup start limping I had him tested for lyme first thing and sure enough He had definitely had Lyme Disease and Pano as well. I did not treat with Doxy but used amoxi instead due to his young age. A very interesting Question came up with the Golden's owners. Who should be responsible for the Lyme disease in their puppy? The Breeder or the new owners? He was bought at about 9-10 weeks old, and at about 14-15 weeks old he was limpy and a bit lethargic? Just a Question? What do you guys think? I hope it never happens to me, but in all fairness this pup was probably bitten by a tic at the Breeders home In NH. Now when my young pups start to limp, I first do the HW/lyme snap test, if that is positive then I do the C-6.
