The symptoms of Lyme disease in dogs differ from those in people, and
usually occur much later after the tick bite. Clinical illness in dogs
usually occurs 2 to 5 MONTHS after initial exposure and the likelihood of
disease and the severity of the disease seems to vary with the animal's age
and immune status. This pup would have had to been bitten before 8 weeks
old.
That said... I don't know why there always has to be someone to "blame".
Even dogs on tick preventative can be bitten by a tick. And a puppy that
young wouldn't be on tick meds yet.

old . So when I had a 4 month old GSD pup start limping I had him tested
for
lyme first thing and sure enough He had definitely had Lyme Disease and
Pano
as well. I did not treat with Doxy but used amoxi instead due to his young
age.
A very interesting Question came up with the Golden's owners.
Who should be responsible for the Lyme disease in their puppy?
The Breeder or the new owners? He was bought at about 9-10 weeks old, and
at about 14-15 weeks old he was limpy and a bit lethargic? Just a Question?
What do you guys think?
