Hi;
Wednesday evening at my AB club's meeting there was unanimous vote of the
membership to add Newton Kennel Club to the list
of AKC clubs against the PAWS Bill. We had the best turn out that we had at a
meeting in months, as my husband who is President,
had put in the meeting notice that we would have a discussion on PAWS.
Newton is a member club of AKC and I am the Delegate, but was not at the
meeting in Chicago as it conflicted with the Futurity.
I have been instructed by the membership to speak out at the next Delegates
meeting in September if given the opportunity. Just
an FYI, both my husband and I are GSDCA members, as is the VIce President of
Newton and his wife.
Our membership feels that AKC is selling out the hobby breeder, who are the
backbone of the sport of purebred dogs.
Also the latest AKC news about the Bill has it at six litters, what happen to
the seven in the original proposal? I am also
very proud of the fact that Newton is a member of NAIA and that more clubs and
individuals should get involved with this
group to protect our rights,
The other item our members are against is the purposed new mission statement,
no mention of breeders and
breeding for type and function in it anywhere. It is really directed towards
the general dog owner population.
I hope all of you will join this fight and contact your Senators, Congressmen
and the Senate and House Agriculture
Committees. I rarely breed, but I feel this Bill is a violation of an
individuals rights. True hobbies are just that, a hobby and you are
not allowed to claim your hobbies on your taxes. But all so us must stand up
and have our voices heard if we are going to defeat the
AR movement. There is strength in numbers, and no one can set back on this to
see what happens. Speak up now with your
calls and letters.
