Hi Jeff,
I agree in everything you posted lower cost for pups and $35.00 handlers
showing pups. We the San Antonio Shepherd club in the past charged only
$6.00 for pups for 3 years and our puppy entries did not increase. We
are now up to $12.00. I believe it would work if all specialities clubs
went to $6.00 and all handlers went to $35.00 for pups. If it was a
joint effort it may work. Some handlers are priced out of site and as
long as their clients with money support them, no relief is in site for
the average person that is interested in the sport of showing our great
breed. I often heard from people its to expensive to show. In fact I
hear it way to often. We are not getting enough young and new people
into the breed. We need to stand back and evaluate whats happening in
our sport and start doing something about it. Again it needs to be a
joint effort. JMO.
