So was my Dad and my Mom.? Unfortunately, many children today do not have their 
parents as role models.? Especially in urban neighborhoods.? They look to 
atheletes and even gang members as role models.? Most never have any experience 
outside their immediate street or neighborhood.? You know this as a fact from 
your prior employment.? Some kids only have their gang as a family or for 
acceptance.? Or they try to be like the rappers or succesful atheletes they 
see.? Most don't have the musical or athletic ability but still see these folks 
as heros.? They have no direction other than what they see from famous names.? 
If Vick does it, they will too, only be smarter about it.? So someone like 
Vick, who?could be?a role model, is not who kids should look up to.? Most of 
these kids could do 24 mos in prison without a worry.? In fact, it would be a 
feather in their cap.? So, people like Vick, need to hold themselves to a 
higher standard for those kids to get out of that life and do som
 ething good.? If?Vick can use this experience to help kids like this, then I 
will have some respect for him. Otherwise, he is just another criminal?to me.? 
And, we all know that people who can abuse and kill?animals?won't stop there.??

football again.  Allowing him back in the NFL sends the wrong message to 
children and families.  Should he be made an example?  Yes, he should.  Just as 
he may have paid for being a Celeb, too many other highly paid athletes have 
gotten away with some serious crimes as well because of their status.  These 
athletes are role models to kids and should hold themselves to that standard.

Second chances.  Yes, I believe in that.  But, one must show he/she deserves a 
second chance.  Haven't seen that from Vick.  He has done nothing but play the 
system to try and get a reduced sentence.  Maybe if he shows some sincerity, he 
could play arena football or something.  But, to give him back everything he 
lost by being a criminal is just wrong.

no mistake about it, the feds went after Mr. Vick and they "Got" him....my   
question is who else has the federal government went after for dog fighting, it 
  
would be my guess that this is still going on just as it always has before.   
Don't fool yourself, the Feds were more interested in bringing in a Big Fish (  
 
Mr. Vick) then they were about stopping dog-fighting. Having been involved in   
the criminal justice system for 28 years I have seen some interesting things.   
Mr. Vick could do our cause more good by playing football and donating big 
bucks   
to animal groups, vets, shelters etc. than he can from sitting in jail for 23   
months....the federal prosecutor was recommending 12 to 18 months. In our   
system,... justice is supposed to be balanced with mercy....but unlike many of  
 
you, I too have sinned in
 areas of my   life...second chances work sometimes...I hope Mr. Vick gets a 
second chance and   I hope he returns to football....on a different subject, my 
bitch is not   responding much to the blood transfusions, she is still with the 
vet, my bill is   in the 4 figure area, tomorrow I will perhaps make a tough 
decision....but Life   is still good....Ed
