Vick received 23 months in federal prison, many think he got off too light,
I think he perhaps got more than he would have, had he not been
"Famous"....make no mistake about it, the feds went after Mr. Vick and they
"Got"
him....my question is who else has the federal government went after for dog
fighting, it would be my guess that this is still going on just as it always
has
before. Don't fool yourself, the Feds were more interested in bringing in a
Big
Fish ( Mr. Vick) then they were about stopping dog-fighting. Having been
involved in the criminal justice system for 28 years I have seen some
interesting
things. Mr. Vick could do our cause more good by playing football and
donating big bucks to animal groups, vets, shelters etc. than he can from
sitting in
jail for 23 months....the federal prosecutor was recommending 12 to 18
months.>>

I disagree:
The Humane Society of Huron Valley is celebrating what it's calling the first
dogfighting conviction in Washtenaw County in recent history. Michael Alan
Dalton of Belleville is set to be sentenced Dec. 17 after pleading guilty to
violating the state's dogfighting law, according to Washtenaw County Chief
Deputy Assistant Prosecutor Steve Hiller. Dalton faces up to four years in
prison for the felony and also could be fined up to $5,000 and be ordered to
perform up to 500 hours of community service. Tanya Hilgendorf, the Humane
Society of Huron Valley's executive director, said the people in her office
believe
it's the first conviction in at least eight years for dogfighting.
In 2003, dog fighting convictions increased 400% in Indianapolis/Marion
County alone. You can help prevent this cruelty to animals and other crimes by
learning how to detect signs of this illegal activity and reporting suspicious
activity to Central Indiana Canine Crime Stoppers.

VIDALIA, LA (2/15/07) â?? The Louisiana SPCA is applauding a major victory in
the war against dogfighting with yesterdayâ??s conviction of a major dogfighter

who has been considered one of the principal violators of the illegal
activity in Louisiana. Clinton Bartell Schneider, Jr., who supplies fighting
dogs
and fights under the name Black River Kennels, was found guilty yesterday on
state charges of dogfighting in Concordia Parishâ??s Seventh Judicial Court.
Schneider goes up for sentencing on April 7, 2007 and faces a maximum ten-year
prison sentence and a maximum $25,000 fine.

Portage County Ohio 2006---Both of these convictions were for dogfighting.
Ogletree received. fifteen-month sentences on the remaining four dogfighting
convictions,
