Let's take the hypothetical situation that you have two dogs that are equal in every attribute but : Dog 1: has a great front extension but does not fully follow thru in the rear(stops before fully extending). Dog 2: has great rear follow thru but "pounds" in front due to a lack of front extension.. If I was the judge on this day, I would be a breeder judge, and as a breeder would do what I felt was best for the breed. Front shoulders, and posternum are the most difficult to obtain in our breed, therefore with all else equal, temperament, clean coming and going, back, etc. I would go for the dog with the great front. Rear angulation you can get in one breeding it can take years to get a good front. I have always had good fronts in my bloodlines, my first dog Ch. Deb-Mar's Beckett had a great front but did not have a good enough rear, as I continued breeding I finally got a dog that I felt had it all and that was Ch. Deb-Mar's Dirty Harry, Harry was the perfect combination of a mom( D-M Rockin Robin) who had a good front and rear, excellent back and great temperament, when bred to Ch. Ticket-Man of Fran-JO, I got the perfect combination of excellent front, excellent rear, back, croup, angulation. and temperament. Harry finished very quickly and many did not get to enjoy his beauty whether standing or in motion. The questions lately have been very good and have peaked my interest to write or maybe its the greentea with ginseng that has woken me up.
