before you go near the dogs.
MANY years ago, I had a bitch bred at home, went out on an insurance appt.,
long time clients, we were sitting at their kitchen table and I heard a
dog cough. OMG their daughter had gotten a puppy from Rescue and it was very
sick. I didn't even apologize, I threw my stuff in my briefcase and I was
out the door! They remained clients but I didn't care if they did or they
didn't. I think I did throw those heels away, no way to clean heels really
and the suit went to the dry cleaner.

I haven't vaccinated since it would be two months before the dogs had both
vaccines and developed immunity anyway, but since I will have two seniors
next year I will vaccinate in the first quarter of 2018.
I have always changed before attending to dogs when returning_ home from
showing (and I don't show if I have a bitch bred or baby puppies at home),
and of course there's no need to destroy clothes or shoes, this is viral and
only lives 12 hours on a hard surface in the BEST circumstances.
I suspect we will see far less of this as we deal w summer heat waves.

How dangerous is this flu? I get the flu now and then and just work
through it.
A couple of weeks ago I watched Linda Bankhead do her fantastic job of
judging and wipe her hands after each dog. She said the shepherd people aren't
used to showing the teeth and she didn't want to do it herself. I
appreciate the hand cleaning, but I haven't seen the flu here in Southern
California, and is it that serious?
I also want names and addresses for those who are going to strip before
going into their homes. We should set up a caravan to view the proceedure.

I was at a kennel club mtg last night and a lot of the exhibitors in the
club are not showing their dogs this summer. They are vaccinating but the
vaccine takes about two months to become fully effective. I
We are having a show next month and will follow akc guidelines for
frequent disinfecting. Many members working st the show will strip off
before
entering the house to try to prevent infecting their own dogs. Some
members are vowing to throw the clothes away rather than take them through the
house to the laundry. The flu can be spread through the air. Entries at
many shows are down by 40 to 60 percent
