This is what my vet told me when I called:
There is no vaccine yet that would protect the dogs from the flu and may
not be for a long time. However, he suggested that dogs get the Bordetella
(sp) which is used for kennel cough and upper respiratory problems. As most
know it is administered through the nose. Although it does not entirely
keep them from getting the canine flu it will be a deterrent. One should
administer it approx. one week before taking the dog to any place where
dogs gather, shows, parks, etc. and will only be good for 2 weeks
thereafter.
What one can do after this time I have no idea. Perhaps someone else with
more info can elaborate on that.
