I can totally relate Jeff, although my situations weren't about the board.
The first times I got anonymous hate mail was when I had a top-winning dog,
Punky. Just recently, with GCH Hope, there was hate mail sent to ME,
condemning her handler. Also off-putting was when I volunteered to write a
column for The Review a few years ago: I wrote 4-5 columns. Then I heard
through the grapevine that certain "people" were jealous and out to get
me--next thing I knew, the editor informed me that my services would no
longer be needed as there were quite a few "complaints" about the column and
since The Review was expensive to print, it could not afford to print a page
that would generate complaints. Wow--first time I was every fired for
volunteering. It's laughable. Even though I've been a member since 1981, I
feel (from personal experience) that the GSDCA is a closed corporation. No
more volunteering for me. I'd rather fly WAY under the radar, go to shows
and love the dogs.

I was "recruited" to run a few years ago as well. In the weeks leading up
to the election I received hate mail and anonymous vulgar threatening
letters.
I was like Really? It's a volunteer position for a dog club. We have some
crazies...that's all I will say. I will let the lifers keep all that. I
have better things to do.
