At 11:20 PM 7/21/2010, you Marc wrote, in part:
The Pentax electronic shutter was a development of the Voigtländer electronic shutter gifted to Asahi as part of their work with the Zeiss Foundation.

I am not attempting to denigrate the many contributions of Asahi. It still is amusing that they are the only major camera company to found their success on lens mounts developed by other companies -- and, in both cases, the other company was Zeiss. (So good was the K-Mount that Pentacon adopted a "flipped" K-Mount for their Praktica B camera line.)

My Contax RTS has an electronic shutter. Where does it fit into this story?

The story at the time I bought it (gold-plated demo) is that the lenses were made in Germany while the bodies were made in Japan. It may have been that the glass came from Germany but the final lenses were assembled in Japan. Guess I'll have to have a look at the lenses to see the country indication.
